Back to school

That wonderful(?) time of year has returned. For me summer was officially over on Aug. 18. While it is good to get back to work and see friends I haven't seen all summer, it is a bummer having to get up at 6 in the morning. And the year will be a little challenging this year as there is construction going on at the school and for several months I will be working out of a closet. The fun part is seeing everyone's faces when they realize the front office is a closet.

Beach Weekend Part Two

There are horses near the trees in about the center of the picture. I think this is Shackleford Island

Beautiful afternoon

Can you see the boat?

Fort Macon
I guess you have figured out we went for an airplane tour. It was totally awesome. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Brian was our pilot and did a great job. Thanks for the opportunity, Brian.
If you ever have the chance to do this, don't hesitate!

Beach Weekend...Pirate Invasion

We took a quick trip to Beaufort/Atlantic Beach, NC this past weekend. Brian, our friend, was there and called to tell us that they were going to be doing a pirate "invasion" in Beaufort on Sat. We thought it sounded like fun, so into the car we hopped mid Friday. After stopping for supper with Carrie Virginia and meeting her beau, Dylan, in Chapel Hill we pulled into Atlantic Beach around 11. With instructions to Brian that we would see him late the next morning , we went to bed. After a late breakfast(can we say, 11) we headed to Beaufort for the activities that were to start at 1. Finding a place to park was fun, but we did. Called Brian and met up, staking out a pretty good place to watch the action. We were a little disappointed in the reenactment, but enjoyed the costumes and especially the ship. They did a pretty good job on it didn't they? We found out this is the first time they have done it in 25 years, so hopefully they will get better at it.

THe Shortest Season

...Has got to be summer. It seems like it just started and now here we are headed into the middle of August. I have a week and a half before going back to work at good ole HHS. I am spending the time by the pool and doing some reading. I just love my summers....the sun, the blue skies, the wind in the trees, the smell of chlorine and sunscreen, concerts on the river, ....ok maybe not the afternoon showers that tend to pop up, and not the hot, hot humidity; but how can you not love this time of year!?
